She holds an MBBS, MRCGP International (South Asia), Master of Science in Public Health (MSPH), and AMC Part 1 (AMC MCQ). Her clinical background includes government and primary-care practice, with experience across family medicine, women's health, child health, preventive care, and the management of acute and chronic conditions.

Teaching and OSCE education

Dr Jia has developed a focused approach to MRCGP International OSCE preparation, helping candidates translate their clinical knowledge into effective examination performance. Her teaching focuses on the practical skills that distinguish a strong OSCE candidate: structured consultations, clinical reasoning, patient-centred communication, physical examination, counselling, time management and clear presentation of ideas.

Rather than relying on memorised scripts, she encourages candidates to understand the principles behind each consultation and adapt their approach to different clinical scenarios. Her sessions are designed to be interactive and case-based, allowing candidates to practise realistic situations and develop confidence in handling unfamiliar stations.

An important part of her teaching is constructive, individualised feedback. She identifies specific areas where a candidate can improve and provides practical strategies to make their performance clearer, more structured and more effective.

Dr Jia believes that successful OSCE preparation is not simply about knowing what to say. It is about learning how to think, communicate and prioritise under pressure. Her goal is to create a supportive learning environment where candidates can practise openly, learn from mistakes and progressively develop an examination approach that feels natural and confident.

Dr Jia is also currently pursuing the RACGP PEP Specialist pathway, giving her additional insight into the journey from international postgraduate qualifications towards Australian general practice.

Her teaching focuses on clinical reasoning, systematic data gathering, identification of red flags, focused examination, appropriate management planning, patient-centred communication, counselling, time management and effective consultation skills. She places particular emphasis on understanding the candidate's approach rather than simply memorising model answers, encouraging learners to think and communicate like a safe and competent GP.

Her teaching philosophy is centred around case-based learning, active participation and personalised feedback.
